Gayerruck is one of the rarest mountain raised bogs which lies in the heart of the pristine Plains of Šumava. Unfortunately, it is endangered by drainage, making it one of the sites that we will be restoring as part of the LIFE for MIRES project.
In parts of the site which are not accesible for light machinery, we will work with volunteers this year. In the morning we will work on carrying material for the construction of transverse wooden dams. In the afternoon we will take an excursion in the most beautiful mires of Modrava region. You will learn a lot about the natural value of peat bogs and water in the landscape, which we are trying to return to Šumava.
The event is dedicated to volunteers from Bavaria.
