The LIFE for MIRES project is coming to an end. Since, in addition to the project partners, a number of institutions and organizations also participated in the fulfillment of the project objectives, we wanted to inform them about the project’s successes and thank them for their cooperation. Amongst the presentations of the project team, there were also contributions from representatives of municipalities, farmers, foresters and other partners. And there was a lot to talk about. We managed to implement the planned restoration measures on more than 2,000 hectares, we have developed a successful program for the public, we have written a number of publications, created an educational program, filmed a documentary and established many relationships in the region. The results of the project are truly gratifying and are also a promise for the future. Given that climate change is progressing reliably, wetland restoration measures need to be extended beyond the borders of protected areas.
